New tyre labelling starting from the 1st of May 2021
From the 1st of May there will be a new way to labelling the tyres. The renewed label contains more information about the characters of the tyre. This should make it even more easier for customer to make a choice.
Changes
The current tyre labelling shows the following things:
- Fuel efficiency – shown in letters A to G
- Wet grip – shown in letters A to F
- External rolling noise – shown in number 1 to 3 and 68, 69, 70, 71, 72 or 73dB
The new tyre labelling will look like this:
- QR code – This code provides access to additional information from the European database
- Tyre type identifier – Each tyre must show a unique identifier
- Fuel efficiency – shown in letters A to E
- Wet grip – shown in letters A to E
- External rolling noise – shown in letters A to C and numbers 68, 69, 70, 71, 72 or 73 dB
- Snow tyre – shown when a tyre is marked with the mark “grip on snow”
- Ice tyre – shown when a tyre is marked as an ice tyre
Tyres must also be provided with an information sheet in addition to the tyre labelling. This sheet must contain the following information:
- Starting date of the production of the tyre
- The date of the end of the production of the tyre (if known)
The tyre labelling and the information sheet must both be available in the European database.
